Butterflies using Illustrator

Hey everyone.....
Here is another post for butterflies illustration made by illustrator software.
This is one of my favorites. Just looking at these colors lifts me up :)
You know what also makes me happy? Is that you can make one shape, duplicate it and recolor it very easily using illustrator! In this case, I drew a butterfly, mainly using the pen tool and ellipse vector tool (for the circles in the butterfly's wings). For coloring the wings, I used A LOT of pathfinder divides to divide the wings to separate parts and easily give each part a different gradient and give it a nice effect. For the butterfly's body, I used the mesh tool and used brown color shades to give it a 3D effect.
I finished coloring this butterfly and duplicated it 8 times and gave each one unique colors using the feature "recolor artwork" from (edit > edit color > recolor artwork). This amazing feature will allow you to recolor each and every color you have in the shape you drew. To neatly finish it, decide on these butterflies' layout & the order of which they'll appear (object > arrange > bring forward / step backward).

Idea Marketing logo using Illustrator

Hey guys.....
Here is a logo for a marketing company that I made using only illustrator.
It was very easy to make.I first drew the bulb with no fill and a chalk-like stroke....with the light rays & everything ;) Then I made the bulb the dot of the i in "idea". I made the letters of "idea" all in caps and a large font size. To link "idea" text style with the bulb style I gave it a stroke with the same chalk-like brush I used with the lamp.
As for the background, I made it bright yellow with radial gradient (yellow & white) with the gradient center in the middle of the bulb to give the effect of an illuminated bulb. That's all folks ;)

Vogue magazine cover ft.Emma Watson using InDesign

This is my first print design to post!
Although I personally prefer illustrator, but when I learned Indesign......it turned out to be a very nice and neat program.
I always have this thing for organizing and layout, so when I started using Indesign I really loved making magazine covers. I loved the process of selecting the cover photo and selecting the suitable font type, color, size and layout of the text that matches the photo. And of course all this has to reflect the type of the magazine and the type of the magazine readers.
As for this cover, I used both indesign & illustrator. I first placed the picture and wrote the magazine's name in illustrator. I've always liked the effect where part of the magazine's name is hidden behind the person in the photo, and that's exactly what i did here. I put the text path in front of the picture path.I used the eraser tool to remove any part of the text that covers emma watson's figure. Just be careful when erasing so as not to remove text parts on the white background. And have patience.......;)
Then I saved this as a jpg file and imported it to indesign. I centered the file in the document. Then I started adding the magazine's topics! Have fun with the fonts and colors. I prefer sticking with one readable font and playing with the its style (bold or normal). I changed the characters spacing to stretch or shrink the text within the space given. As for the colors, choose matching colors (I prefer using 2 or 3 max.). You can use more than one color in a sentence, depending on the background color, to make sure the text is visible and readable.

Under the Sea using Photoshop

Time to go under the sea ;)
Here's another wallpaper I've made using Photoshop only. You know what's really cool is that you can make any shape or image a brush. By making it a brush you can scatter the shape all over your image with different sizes.....And that's what I did here with the bubbles. It was an image of a transparent bubble that I changed to a brush to put it wherever I want in my wallpaper. To make it more realistic, play with the blur brush in some areas as shown.
As for the background, fill it first with dark green color & give it a cloud effect. Then with the brush tool use a dark pink color at the bottom with layer opacity 65% . With a dark blue brush color a line just above the pink area and make the opacity 65% (I know the blue color is not that obvious but it gives a very good transition between colors in the end).
My favorite part is the lighting effect under the water. This is made by adding a layer above all the previous layers and fill it with a gradient (make the gradient type "noise", roughness "100%", restrict colors & add transparency). Then make the layer mode "color dodge".
Last, but not least, the text. Type the text, make the fill 0% and then add bevel & emboss, inner and outer glow to give this cool transparent bubbly effect.

BonaGraphic logo using Illustrator

Hey guyz....
This is another logo post using illustrator (I just LOVE this software). As you can tell I changed the blog's lame logo with the ordinary font of "BonaGraphic" as soon as I learned to make this folded paper effect. You won't imagine how simple this effect is done. You just type the word you want, and then expand it. Then with the pencil tool you'll draw the lines where you want the folds to be and merge them all. After that reflect each of the folded area inwards.
What gives a white piece of paper the effect that it's folded? The gradient of the folded part. Just give them a gradient from a light grey to white. And then give a light shadow behind them to give some depth.
You're free to give a background color with a radial gradient to give a little bit of contrast.

Hershey's Chocolate logo using Illustrator

This is one of my favorites.......

I wanted to make a chocolate logo that would give the feeling of a delicious melting chocolate, and here it is :)

This logo was very easy to make. I only used both text and pen tools. I duplicated the text to make the one in the foreground in white and added some inner grey shadow giving it this creamy look.

As for the background text, I made it with a very thick chocolate brown stroke. I drew this extra dripping melting chocolate using the pen tool and added it to the text with the thick stroke. I also drew the lighting effect using the pen tool and made it with low opacity.

So here you go, a melting delish hershey's chocolate logo. I'll go grab a chocolate myself  ;) c u

Staring Owl using Illustrator

When I saw a tutorial about an owl......I just had to do it myself and post it. My friends and I have this thing for owls ;) so I had to do it and post it for them. It was real fun to learn and do the feathers. I made a simple rounded rectangle with a gradient (transparent to brown) and a beige stroke in the middle....And there you go....A nice feather that you can duplicate all over the birdie's body.
So here you go buddies.....our famous owl :)

Apple Inc. Wallpaper using Illustrator

Here is a new wallpaper I made using Illustrator (this program I fell in love with). I first made the background using the custom shape tool. I used distort>twirl to twist it a little bit. Then I've played with the grunge brush to give this spilled paint everywhere. I gave different parts of the paint different blend modes. I finished all that and I found it was a little bit empty, so I made  and added Apple Inc. logo in the center.

Extreme logo using Illustrator

This is my first logo to post. I don't know exactly what xtreme is or what does it do.......but I think it looks good :)

I've spent quite some time making the letter "x" than "treme" :) I had to do lots of adds and divides options of the illustrator to do the shadows of the "x". The shadow of the logo itself was made by copying the logo, recoloring it with grey color. Then I used shear and mask (with black to white linear gradient) to show this gradual visibility of the shadow.

Hexagon Bokeh Effect using Photoshop

Here is another bokeh effect I made using photoshop only. Honestly I never thought that photoshop would give me such a dynamic and colorful effect. It's made by the same technique as the previous bokeh effect, but with a different brush shape (which is the hexagon). Also there's the lighting effect made using simple gradient color and changing its opacity to make it almost visible.

Here's my first work to post. I made this bokeh effect using photoshop only. It was really easy to do and really nice to be set as a background. Actually it has been my wallpaper ever since I've made it.
You can find several tutorials for such an effect. You can also make it with different shapes and colors.

My first blog!

Well, this is my first blog......hope it won't be the last :)
The main reason I did this blog is simply to do whatever I want!
Mainly, I'll be posting graphic designs i'm doing. I am always passionate about drawing and designing; whether designing logos, digital painting, wallpapers, ads....etc. I work with several graphic and animation software like Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign & Flash. I'm also learning other software like premiere, soundbooth & dreamweaver
Besides posting my work, I'm gonna post my thoughts about anything that comes to my mind :)
It'd be nice to know your thoughts too and you're more than welcome to post comments.......NICE comments ;)
